Eric hughes
U8 gIRLS ASSISTANT Coach
Eric was born in Bakersfield, California, and has loved soccer for as long as he can remember. He started playing at age 5, became a referee at 10, and competed in club soccer through middle and high school. His passion for the game led him to play at the collegiate level for Dominican University of California, where he continued to grow as both a player and a student of the game.
After college, Eric stayed involved in soccer by refereeing and coaching middle school and high school teams in both California and Kentucky. In recent years, he has enjoyed coaching his son with IAM3rd and now looks forward to coaching alongside his daughter on the U8 girls team.
Eric’s coaching approach blends experience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for helping young athletes succeed. He believes soccer should be fun, exciting, and full of joy, and his goal is for every player to learn the game, grow their skills, and have a great time while doing so. He encourages a growth mindset, where mistakes are simply part of getting better, and effort is celebrated as much as goals. Most importantly, he wants each player to leave the field feeling proud of what they did, happy to be part of the team, and excited to play again.
