Phillip Manga
U16 and U18 Boys Coach
Philip Manga is a US Licensed Soccer Coach and University of Kentucky graduate with a degree in Sociology, combining elite playing experience, global leadership, and transformational youth development. A decorated collegiate athlete (2011 Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team, Top 100 Freshman nationally) who competed at the University of Evansville and the University of Kentucky, and a 3-time State Champion and All-State captain from Henry Clay High School, he was raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo within a multi-generational soccer family. His older brother played collegiate soccer at Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky, while his younger brother, John Manga, is a Mr. Kentucky 2012, High School All-American, MLS Draft selection, and now Division I coach in Boston continuing the family’s tradition of excellence. Together, they founded Box2Box Tumaini Academy, which became the first nonprofit partner established alongside Lexington Sporting Club before transitioning to Trident serving refugee youth and families awarding over $10K in scholarships, producing collegiate and professional players, launching a futsal league and creating a 2019 media initiative with Lexington Community Radio that now operates across YouTube and social media to empower athletes to share their stories and inspire future generations as well soccer tactics. At age 18, he was invited and completed professional trials with Louisville City FC, Dayton Dutch Lions FC, and Vitesse, and at 32 returned for a final trial with Lexington Sporting Club to lead by example. He has coached with Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington Football Club, and Kings Hammer Soccer Club, and served as Youth Pastor and Program Director with Common Good Community Development bringing faith, discipline, culture, and generational leadership to every environment he serves.
